How to make miniature window boxes

Part of the fun of miniature doll house renovations is making pieces yourself.

This little tutorial will show you how to make window boxes

What you'll need :

Lollipop sticks

Dried teeny flowers

Tiny paper flowers

Scalpel

Cutting mat

Pencil

Glue

First measure the window of your dolls house

Then mark on the lollipop stick the length of the window box you want to make.

You'll need three pieces exactly the same size. This will make up the front, back and base.

Glue these three pieces together like so

Then measure the end piece and cut two the same. You can either cut the pieces so they fit in the gap or overlay them. I went for overlay as I want the boxes to look like planks of old wood.

Then leave to dry before giving them a coat of paint or varnish. I used watered down brown acrylic paint

Next snip the dried flowers and paper flowers stems to fit and layer up until you have a filled window box.

And there you have some cute decorations for the outside of your miniature house.

You could also make flowers with tiny pieces of coloured clay or cut out petals from tissue paper.

The house is looking lovely. Now to finish it with the rest of the accessories before starting on the rooms
